Ever notice how some homes in Connecticut look huge online… but feel smaller the second you walk in? A big reason is layout — especially in older CT homes. A lot of houses built in the 1940s–1970s were designed with separate, divided rooms instead of the open layouts people expect today: • formal living room • dining room • closed-off kitchen • hallways connecting everything

Online photos can make spaces look larger because of wide-angle lenses and strategic angles… but in person the home can feel more compartmentalized.

That doesn’t mean it’s bad — some buyers love the character and defined rooms — but you want to understand it before you fall in love with listing photos.

And sometimes a simple change (like opening a wall between the kitchen + living room) can completely transform the feel.
